National Needs Graduate Fellowship Opportunity

Environmental Justice for Future Leaders in Forestry and Environmental Resources

The Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources at NC State is recruiting three Ph.D. Fellows from diverse backgrounds for an innovative opportunity integrating environmental justice theory, practice, and methods with hands-on training, including community-based internships and an international experience. This program is funded by the USDA-NIFA National Needs Fellowship and is expected to begin in Fall 2021.

Potential mentors span expertise in forestry, ecology, human exposure, hydrology, geosciences, and social sciences. Members of the mentoring team are: Dr. Ryan Emanuel, Dr. Shaefny Grays, Dr. Madhusudan Katti, Dr. Katie Martin, Dr. Jennifer Richmond-Bryant, and, Dr. Louie Rivers.

Prospective students should complete the NNF Interest Form and should expect follow-up in 1-2 weeks.
